Christmas is so close and I’m well and truly in the festive spirit now. So I was incredibly excited to be tagged in the Christmas Tag by It’s my crazy beautiful life and Charlotte to get myself further invested in all things Christmas and I’m definitely feeling even more Chirstmassy after answering all these questions!
Side note: I did pick and choose between the questions from both Bloggers that nominated me because I didn’t have it in me to answer 30 questions!
For this challenge the rules are:
- Thank the blogger that tagged you and link their blog to your post.
- List the rules in the post.
- Answer all the questions asked by the blogger.
- Nominate some other blogger’s and provide them with 12 new questions!
Have fun and enjoy!
What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
I don’t think I can choose just one thing. I love everything about Christmas. I love how you can basically get away with eating everything just because it’s Christmas and how happy Christmas music makes me and all the decorations and the tree and the chocolate advent calendars and getting time off work to spend with all of your favourite people and getting to spoil the people you love. I just love Christmas.
Do you have a Christmas Eve tradition?
Opening a present on Christmas eve was always something we did growing up. Last Christmas was the first year I didn’t spend Christmas with my mum so I sadly didn’t get to partake in the tradition (it doesn’t happen in Mikes house!) but this year, Mike and I will be in Leicester on Christmas Eve so I will introduce him to the wonderful tradition before we travel back down south!
Mike’s family have the tradition of a Christmas Eve craft. What the craft is, is always kept secret (by his mum) until it’s time to partake so I’m very excited to see what this year’s Christmas Eve craft will be!
Is there a song that just gets you into that Christmas spirit?
Fairytale of New York. Every time I hear those opening piano chords I know Christmas is on its way and it’s even better when the Irish-style rhythm kicks in. It’s just THE BEST Christmas song.
What is your favourite Christmas movie?
It’s got to be Love Actually, what a bloody film! Though Elf, The Grinch and The Holiday are all close to top!
Which food is your must-have at Christmas time?
Not really specifically for Christmas time but roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese make a Christmas dinner for me! And of course, brussel sprouts(I can’t be the only one who actually loves them, can I?)
Probably a weird choice as well, but my grandma would always make sausage rolls and vol-au-vents when we’d go over to Ireland for Christmas and I definitely miss that!
If you had to choose between Michael Buble’s Christmas album and Justin Bieber’s Christmas album, which one would you choose and why?
Mistletoe is a banger but you just can’t beat a bit of Buble at Christmas. The smooth voice and big band arrangements is just irresistible.
What is your favourite memory about Christmas?
I remember one year ‘Santa’ had bought me a Barbie dream house that had an actual working elevator in it for Barbie to get upstairs and I thought it was the absolute best thing in the entire world.
A more generic memory includes all the trips we took to Ireland at Christmas where we’d play a massive family game of Rummy around the table after Christmas dinner. We’d all put ten or twenty euros in the pot and the first to win 3 games would scoop the winnings – my granddad or I would always win!
When do you start decorating your place for Christmas?
If it was down to me I would’ve had my tree up on November 1st, but I’m currently living with Mikes parents and they forbid any kind of decorating until December 1st. I think when Mike and I get our own place I’ll try to wrangle it so we can start decorating on November 25th, exactly a month before Christmas!
If you were at Christmas Karaoke, which 5 songs would you choose to play?
This is a bloody good question and it’s taken a lot of thought. My five songs would have to be:
1. Last Christmas – Wham!
2. Baby, It’s Cold Outside – Glee Cast (don’t actually know who originally sang it cos I only ever list to this version because I LOVE Kurt and Blaine!)
3. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – Michael Buble
4. All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey
5. Extraordinary Merry Christmas – Glee Cast
Do you put a star or an angel on top of the tree?
I’ve always put an angel at the top when I lived at home with mum but Mike’s family have a Koala that sits at the top of their tree so who knows what will sit at the top of our own Christmas tree one day!
Do you do ugly sweaters or stay far away from them?
Yes to all the ugly sweaters. I will admit I like them ugly and cute, not just completely hideous but I haven’t bought any new ones for a while so this year I’ve added 3 to my wardrobe!
Do you last-minute shop or shop early?
I’d like to say shop early but it depends on how many ideas I have for people. However, this year has definitely been a shop early year, I finished all my Christmas shopping by December 4th!
Does your family watch sports during Christmas day?
Absolutely not. I’m not a sporty person at all and Christmas day is for eating lots of food and drinking lots of wine/cider and playing lots of games!
Do you stay home or go out on Christmas?
Only go out to visit grandparents for Christmas dinner! This was always the case when I’d spend Christmas in Ireland with all of my family (we’d stay at my uncle’s and always go to my Grandparents for the day!) and since I’ve spent Christmas with Mike and his family the same thing seems to apply!
My questions to you:
- What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

- Chocolate or cheese?
- What is the most underrated Christmas song?

- What would you ultimate dream Christmas entail?
- Do you have a Christmas day routine or do you just go with the flow? If you do, what does your routine entail?
- Have you ever had white Christmas?
- Are you a brussel lover or a brussel hater?
